School buses

Sir,—Your article outlining cuts in rural school bus services is a further indication of the Government’s policy to run down rural communities and services. In the Kirwee area the surrounding schools of Aylesbury, Charing Cross, Kimberley, and Courtenay were closed down to save education costs. Children from these schools are now taken by bus to Kirwee. It appears that the Government is starting to withdraw the bus service and the rights of

these children to a “free” education. If the Government is not prepared to transport these children to Kirwee it must reopen the schools that were closed.— Yours, etc., ALASTAIR FRIZZELL, Chairman, Kirwee School Committee. February 15, 1986.
