Farm spending
Sir,—l cannot let the article of Thursday, February 13, on a survey finding that farmers are to cut spending on luxury items, go unchallenged. In my 16 years of shearing, share-milking and then farm ownership, spa pools, videos, overseas trips and new cars, as portrayed in the article have certainly not featured in my short-term aims. Economic survival certainly has, now more than ever. I am sure many young farming families will be amused by the article, as well as annoyed at the wrong impression this leaves' our urban contemporaries. — Yours, etc., RON FERRIMAN. Ashburton, February 13, 1986.
