Radio New Zealand has granted private radio stations in New Zealand the right to provide special news reports for their listeners on the Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh between July 24 and August 2. The New Zealand Broadcasting Corporation holds the exclusive rights for New Zealand radio and television coverage of the games, but has decided to accept approaches from Radio Hauraki and the independent radio sports network, allowing them to provide three three-minute news reports each day.
