FUTURES PCP action this week
The PCP (interest-rate) contract will provide the action on the futures market this week, says Mr Geoff McDonnell, futures manager of Mair Astley, Ltd. The March PCP contract closed 19 points down yesterday, compared with the Friday close. The April contract was five points down. Trading was relatively light for this contract — 97 traded. The U.S. dollar contract showed life with the February contract up 20 points from Friday (close to close), and the March contract up 15 points. Trading was very light, however, even for a Monday, when the American and European foreign-exchange markets have not yet opened for the week’s business. American markets will be closed again on Monday (U.S. time) for the Washington’s birthday week-end, so the U.S. dollar futures contracts in New Zealand may have another quiet day today. The wool contract was reasonably busy yesterday with the May contract up 2c and the August contract down 1c on Friday (close to close).
