Australia’s Polish community is second only to the Vietnamese as the fastestgrowing non-English-speak-. ing community. Rapid growth is set to continue, according to immigration figures. More than 10,000 Poles have arrived in Australia since the 1981 census, and the Immigration Minister, Mr Hurford, said Australia would continue to welcome refugees from Poland. First and second-genera-tion Poles brought their community to 115,000 people.
