Requiem for family
PA Wellington Six hundred people packed a Wellington church yesterday for the Requiem Mass of the family killed in an air crash at Koromiko, near Picton, last week. Thirteen priests took part in the Mass at St Teresa’s Church, Karori, for Mr Brian Dear, aged 38, and Mrs Kerry Dear, aged 37, and their children, Tracey, aged 11, Gregory, aged 10, and Joanna, aged 7, who
were killed in the crash on January 2. Also killed were the pilot, Captain Winston Cunliffe, aged 44, of Miramar, and Mr David Rushton, aged 20, formerly of Tasmania, who boarded with the Dear family. A funeral service for Captain Cunliffe was also held yesterday, at St Mary’s Anglican Church, Karori, and for Mr Rushton, at Blenheim on Wednesday.
