A.I.D.S. publicity
Sir,—Without any physical or hereditary cause, “Homosexuality: the facts” would list the obvious symptoms of stereotypical gay behaviour, enraging those sad people and their misguided supporters from Fran Wilde down to Nicky Ryan, who typically misquote and resort to threats, insult and cowardly harassment. Homosexuals, as such, should not be treated as lepers, but known A.I.D.S. sufferers must be restrained as potentially dangerous killers. How long before convicted prophets of the alternative lifestyle for young boys — a weekly offence — happen to be
protected A.I.D.S. sufferers? Seeking quarantine for terminal cases is common sense. “Bigot” is more fitting those displaying the supporter syndrome. To say the risk of contagion from A.I.D.S. victims is minor compared with that from my attitudes is consistent with the rudeness of those wanting special human rights for unscrupulous potential killers, while muzzling those who hurt gays’ pathetic feelings with the truth. — Yours, etc., VARIAN J. WILSON. January 8, 1986.
