Definitions of peace

Sir,—l thank Sue Hunt for her letter, but point out that peace is not merely the absence of conflict, and also that socialism does not necessarily cause any more domination than capitalism. Peace is where there is genuine love, caring and concern for people, anxiety for the rule of God and His kingdom, not being dominated by television advertisements, greed, prejudice, racism, etc. As our Gov-ernor-General has pointed out, peace is more difficult to achieve than war. It requires effort and 'icourage — the courage of one’s convictions — arid may involve some non-violent conflict to achieve. — Yours, etc.,
