Martial law to end?

Pakistani parliamentarians said yesterday that the President, General Muhammad Zia ul-Haq would announce an end to 8% years of martial law today. Political commentators and newspapers have speculated on various dates for
the lifting of Pakistan’s longest period of martial law, which General Zia has promised to end. Several parliamentarians said they had been officially informed that General Zia would proclaim an end today to the Army rule he imposed on seizing power in a 1977 coup.
