Timmy Hanover top hope at Reefton
By
G. K. YULE
Timmy Hanover emerged as a top chance in the Reefton Trotting Club’s Reefton Cup today when he came on quite well for fourth in the Robbie Burns Imperial Hotel Handicap at Motukarara on Saturday.
Passover was a clear-cut
winner in track record time of 3min 42.2 s for the 2800 m at Motukarara and Timmy Hanover, a horse better known for his deeds on rainaffected tracks, did quite well for fourth, even though he was some distance from the winner.
Timmy Hanover has not been successful since the
Geraldine meeting in November, 1984, but his recent racing has been of a satisfactory standard, suggesting that a win might not be far off, especially if he strikes softish footing. No doubt the hardest for him to beat will be the John Vincent-trained Go Duke and Lordshipman. Go Duke
had two seconds in the bog at Westport last week, while Lordshipman won the Westport Cup at his lone start at the meeting. Both are in form and they should figure prominently in the finish. Luna Dawn was all at sea on the conditions at West-
port, but on firmer footing at Reefton she could be harder to beat. Gleniti, Bogart Command, i World of Fame and Brad i Way are others capable of showing up. i There is a wealth of form • in the second leg, the Well-
man Coal Co. Handicap. Telopea Ann, Gilton Charm and Sinclair Lord could be as good as any, but considerations will have to be given to the prospects of Saryan, Scotch Fella, Lauder Bogart, Lover Boy and Motu Margaret. - :
