Protesters oppose ‘Rambo’ doll

Several dozen people opposed to war toys held a demonstration outside the mansion of the actor, Sylvester Stallone, in Los Angeles, on Christmas Eve to protest against a “Rambo” doll to be released soon.

Jerry Rubin, a spokesman for the group, International War Toys Boycott, said that his organisation wanted Stallone, the star of the “Rocky” and “Rambo” movies, to join them in opposing a Rambo action doll tcugo on sale early next year.

The protesters, who carried signs saying: “Stop the toy arms race” and “Give peace toys a chance,” left petitions outside the locked gate of the actor’s mansion, which is surrounded by a 2m-high brick wall Robert Zarem, a spokesman for Stallone, said that the actor was not at home during the protest and that, in any event, he had nothing to do with production of the doll. “They ought really to be directing their efforts with the directors of the film company or the manufacturers,” Mr Zarem saj®
