P. Richards suspended
PA Timaru The Wingatui jockey, Paul Richards, incurred a day’s suspension at Washdyke yesterday. He will miss the Kurow meeting on Monday. Over the concluding stages of the Excelsior Tavern Maiden, Irish Castle (G. Taylor) was observed to be jostled and then checked when racing
on the inside of Double Bridle (Richards). After the inquiry Double Bridle was relegated from fourth to sixth, with Ceresia promoted to fourth and Irish Castle from sixth to fifth. Richards was charged and the committee, taking into account his good riding record, suspended him until after December 30.
