Ceredel Lady wins CO pace

Ceredel Lady, a three-year-old filly by Noodlum from a half-sister to the smart Tapanui-bred pacers, Honkin Del, John Arthur and Lederec, led throughout to win the CO penalty-bear-ing event at the Motukarara trials yesterday.

From the same family as the former great mare Haughty, Ceredel Lady, trained at Rangiora by Maurice Bailey, paced her last 400 m in 28s to hold out Devilman, which fought gamely after racing without cover, by half a head, with

three-quarters of a length to Panyan’s half-brother, Pathfinder, which flashed home late for third after being three back on the inner to the straight. Result:
