Sports, cultural ambassadors
PA Wellington The film director, lan Mune, and the marathon runner, Lorraine Moller, are among the latest sports and cultural ambassadors appointed by the Minister of Recreation and Sport, Mr Moore. Each receives a grant of $5OOO towards the expenses of overseas commitments in return for promoting New Zealand. The new appointments bring to 48 the total ambassadorships awarded under the schedule. The 10 latest appointments are: Everest expedition, a New Zealand party to Everest via China. The noted marathon runner, Lorraine Moller. Dr John Hellemans, of Christchurch, triathlon champion ranked fifth in the world, who competed in the United States and Europe. Robert Courtney, of Auck-
land, wheelchair sprinter, holder of world records and gold and bronze medal winner at the 1984 Paralympics. Santha Patel, of Auckland, windsurfer, New Zea- . land and world champion. lan Mime, of Auckland, who has a long and distinguished record in the New Zealand film industry. Malvina Major-Fleming, of Opunake, international opera singer, for services in the United States and Europe. Jan Arnold, Morrinsville golfer, turned professional in July, 1985. Ohinemutu Maori Culture Group, of Rotorua, a retrospective appointment for services during a Septem-ber-October tour of Britain. Auckland City Team of,— Chefs and the Cookery and Food Association of New Zealand, teams to share the award covering the Hospitality Olympia in London next month.
