Uli Uli likely favourite today

The highly promising youngster, Uli Uli, appears likely to be a warm favourite for the New Zealand St Leger, first leg of the T.A.B. double and third leg of the T.A.B. treble, at the Wellington Greyhound Racing Club’s meeting at Hutt Park today. The Auckland-trained black dog was the fastest heat winner when he recorded 30.56 s for the 520 m. If he can make full use of the “ace” draw, he should prove to be too smart for his rivals. Most opposition is likely to come from Tegimi Ace, which was also a heat winner. Although on this occasion the Tokoroatrained bitch has not drawn so well at box No. 4 and could encounter traffic problems in the early running. Canterbury kennels will be represented by Matagouri Rose, runner-up to Merely Magic in the New Zealand Championship recently at Queen Elizabeth II Park.
