Freightman wins

Freightman took the honours at the Motukarara workouts yesterday, speeding over his last 800 m in 59s and a final 400 m in 29s to post 3min 29.1 s for the 2600 m. Bobanish, Our Mana and Loveridge filled the minor placings, two lengths from the winner. Salazar came with a whirlwind finish to win the two-year-old heat over one mile in 2min 13.85, cutting out the final 400 m in 29.55.

The track specialist, Apache Banner, was too good for a field of Cl-C3 pacers, scoring in 3min 33.25.

Murray Edmonds produced Idle Thoughts (3min 37.65) and Lord Christopher (3min 325) to win their respective maiden heats, with French Heritage taking the other in 3min 44.75. Gee Dee won the main trot in 3min 52.75, and Reb’s Trail trotted solidly to beat the maidens in 3min 36.35.
