Duty cuts welcomed
PA Wellington . The Retailers’ Federation yesterday welcomed the import duty cuts in the economic statement released by the Minister of Finance, Mr Douglas. The federation’s president, Mr John Nelson, noted that the intention of the cuts was to reduce costs to consumers.
The range of products covered included certain consumer items and Mr Nelson said the reductions were a logical extension of the Government’s policy on import liberalisation and tariff reform announced in September, 1985.
