(a) Mechanical — removal of existing steam boiler plant, piping and calorifiers. Installation of three M.T.H.W. and one steam boiler, extended M.T.H.W. and steam piping reticulation and new non-storage and storage calorifiers. (b) Electrical — removal of existing electrical wiring associated with the existing steam boiler plant. Installation of new wiring systems associated with the new M.T.H.W. and steam boiler plant and a plant supervisory and monitoring system interfacing with centralised control centre at Kew Hospital, Invercargill. (c) Civil — alterations to the existing boiler house, construction of coal bunkers, coal shed and other works associated with coal fired boiler plant, road construction and paving and associated yard drainage and general resurfacing. The works described above will be let as a complete package with the mechanical specialist assuming the role of Head Contractor. It is anticipated that tenders will be called during December, 1985, with construction commencing late March, 1986. Completion is required late 1986.
