Evernden beaten
NZPA-AAP Brisbane The New Zealander, Kelly Evernden, went down in straight sets to the top seeded American, Paul Annacone, in the final of the $lOO,OOO GWA Mazda tennis classic at Chandler yesterday. Evernden lost to the New Yorker, 3-6,3-6, in Ihr smin. Annacone, aged 22, raced through the opening set in
only 32min, breaking Evernden’s service in the fourth game. Evernden, who beat the unseeded American, Glenn Layendecker, to reach the final, was outclassed by the talented American. Annacone continued his fine form throughout the tournament, displaying brilliant touches after rushing the net.
