Jack Hammer in form

Jack Hammer, preparing for the Canterbury Park meeting on Wednesday, put up a good performance to win the C 3 and faster pace at the North Canterbury OTB workouts at Rangiora yesterday. After tangling at the start from 20m, Jack Hammer added another 30m to his handicap, but was sent forward from the 1600 m and was in control shortly afterwards. Both Lively Too and Sure He Can were finishing fast at the end but Jack Hammer was still under a good hold and lasted to win by half a head, with Sure He Can, a further half a length back, third. Jack Hammer paced the 2600 m in 3min 36.45, with the last 800 m in Imin 3.7 s and the final 400 m in 29.65. Melvander also looked in good trim with an impressive win in the Cl and faster trot.
