Four outright victories

The opening games of the senior suburban cricket competition ended at the week-end with Vistalite Sumner, Heathcote, Hoon Hay and Woolston W.M.C. all gaining outright wins.

At Garrick Park, Woolston W.M.C. and Upper Riccarton both scored 104 in the first innings but Upper Riccarton produced a dismal 51 runs in the second innings, showing a lack of application on a tough wicket. Gary Baxter’s bowling of seven wickets for 27 in the second innings and 5/35 in the first was the highlight of the game.
