Wins for women’s top soccer seeds
PA New Plymouth The top seeds, Auckland and Wellington, remained unbeaten on the first day of the national women’s soccer tournament at Hickford Park near New Plymouth, but were not as convincing as expected. Auckland A and Wellington were expected to be the pacesetters, but they have not stamped their dominance on the tournmament. Auckland A managed only a 1-0 win over Southland, a lowly ranked team. Wellington did well against Manawatu, winning 4-1, but when it came up against
Hawkes Bay could only win 1-0 over one of the bottomteams. Results:— Section one:— Round One: Auckland A 1, Southland 0; Bay of Plenty 0, Waikato 0; Auckland B 4, Marlborough 4; Poverty Bay bye.
