Armorel wins
Armorel took honours in the main heat at the Motukarara workouts yesterday when he finished well to beat the pacemaker, Lisa Hest, with Mac’s Gift third. The time for the 2600 m was 3min 395, with the last 800 m run in 62s and the final 400 m in 30s. Dream Lustre was an impressive maiden heat winner, recording 3min 39.15, with the last 800 m in 61.7 s and the final 400 m in 29.95. Other heat winners were Black Soil, (3min 42.65), Christmas Day (3min 42.75) and Lord Tyrax (3min 40.45). In the two-year-old heat Winning Flight nosed out Innocent Man, posting 2min 19.3 s for the one mile journey.
