Results of men’s basketball
Converse - Canterbury’s 100-114 loss to Exchequer Saints (Wellington) at Cowles Stadium on Saturday evening should not stop it qualifying for one of the four places in the semifinals of the Countrywide men’s basketball league championship at Wellington next month.
Canterbury is now in third place with 20 points, and is four points clear of Übix Palmerston North, which has a game in hand, Ponsonby and Bowater Nissan Nelson, who share the fourth position on 16 points. DB Metro heads the competition with 24 points followed two points away by Saints. Both teams have played one less game than Canterbury. Canterbury has three games to wind up the qualifying series. It will play Supersport Hamilton at Hamilton next Saturday, followed by Nelson at Nelson on Sunday, July 14, and the last game will be against Cable Price Centrals at Cowles Stadium on July 20.
