Skeleton 100 years old?
PA Auckland A skeleton found on an Epsom property on Thursday is thought to be that of a Maori who died more than 100 years ago. Mr Bernd Benecke, a physiotherapist, found the skeleton while excavating under his house. “I was digging and suddenly I had a bone in my hand,” Mr Benecke said yesterday. “Being in the medical profession, I knew what it was straight away.” A police pathologist said he believed the skeleton, of a Maori, was more than 100 years old. The Wai-O-Hua tribe lived in the area at that time.
