P.O. charges up on Monday
Toll, telex, telegraph, and postal charges will all go up on Monday. These are the first, of a three-stage increase in Post Office charges to take effect. Telephone rentals will increase on July 16, and some annual charges such as those for private boxes, private bags, and rural delivery will increase on April
1 next year. “The new rates represent an average increase of less than 7 per cent,” said the Chief Postmaster in Christchurch, Mr Syd Bradley. “Details of the new rates are available from Post Offices. A pamphlet outlining the new rates will be delivered to all households during the next two weeks,” he said.
