The Council, an independently controlled research organisation, financed by grants from the Government and other sources, has a staff of approximately 18 research personnel and 20 administrative, clerical, editorial and secretarial assistants. As Chief Executive of the Council, the Director is expected to provide professional leadership in advancing and co-ordinating its research programme. Additionally, the successful candidate will be required to inform and advise the governing body, to direct the Council’s publishing and information sections, and to supervise its advisory and sales services. Liaison with kindred organisations in New Zealand and other countries will also be a requirement of the position.
