Telethon grant applications invited
The telethon ’B5 beneficiary, the Child and Youth Development Trust, has invited applications for grants from the proceeds of the June 29 and 30 television fund-raiser. In aid of the safety, health, and well-being of the young, Telethon funds will support: • Services promoting safety among children and young people. • Education on the benefits of physical safety and social development. • Projects which foster personal responsibility in young people towards themselves and their community. • Programmes for the young needing special assistance in their physical, emotional or social development. • Research. • New and existing organisations whose aims include those of the trust. The trust will also designate a small proportion of funds for distribution to New Zealand-based organisations for relief of famine or other physical deprivations.
In allocating funds throughout New Zealand, the trust will take into account geographical spread
and proportionate population. Proceeds will be for services and programmes and will not be available for land or buildings. The child and youth development trust intends to distribute the funds as quickly as possible over the next two years. The deadline for grant applications is September 30. Allocations will not be made until after that date. Grant application forms are available from the Secretary, Child and Youth Development Trust, P.0.80x 3528, Wellington.
