Some common abbreviations used in the video industry: VHS — Video Home system. Beta — Betamax, the format developed by Sony. DIN — Deutsche Indus-trie-Norm, the German standard for electrical equipment. Plugs can have three, five or six pins although they have the same outer appearance. PAL — Phase Alteration by Line. France, based on a 625 line/50 field system. RF — Radio frequency. The RF converter changes the recorded video signals on the video tape into RF signals, enabling them to be &ed back over a standard rision set. VHF — Very High Frequency. TV broadcasting ’frequencies range between 30 and 300 MHz. UHF - Ultra High Frequency — range between 300 and 3000 MHz.
