N.Z. escaper shot dead
NZPA-AAP Sydney A prison escaper shot dead on Sunday night by tbe police at Bankstown, in western Sydney, had been wanted for questioning aver last Friday’s armed bold-up of an AJSIZ. bank at Roselands shopping centre, tbe police said yesterday. The police identified the man as a New Zealander, Robin Horne, aged 28, also known to the police tinder several aliases. Horne escaped in October
last year from Sydney’s Long Bay jail where he was being held on a number of armed hold-up charges. The police said he was shut after he tried to pull a pistol on members of the armed hold-up squad when they went to his home in Pringle Avenue, Bankstown. Horne ted been under police surveillance since Saturday. An ambulance was called after he was shot, but he died before reaching hospital
