Metrication book ‘sexist’
NZPA-APWarwick, Rhode Island A booklet to promote the metric system with a bikiniclad woman on its cover has been banned as sexist by school officials. ; “Metrication American style” was written in 1974 by John Izzi, head of the mathematics department at Toll Gate High School. “It is wonderful that they are going to ban the book,”
said Izzi, aged 53. “It will make it famous and it will really promote the metric system.” On the booklet’s cover is a picture of Izzi standing beside a poster of a woman whose measurements are listed in millimetres. George McLaughlinn, city director of secondary education, other things that could be used to teach the metric system.
