March dry, cool
PA Wellington March was dry and slightly cooler than average throughout most of New Zealand, the Weather Office said yesterday. Rainfalls throughout most of the country were only half the average, only Northland, Auckland, and Bay of Plenty receiving about average rain. East Cape, Gisborne, and Hawke’s Bay had about one and a half times the aver-
age. Temperatures were cooler than average throughout New Zealand with morning temperatures about Ideg. below average and afternoon temperatures half a degree below average. New Zealand temperatures so far this year have been o.4deg. above average compared with O.ldeg. below average for the corresponding period last year.
