Aust, interest in glamour filly
Overseas interest in Canterbury’s glamour filly, Canterbury Belle, has not waned. In fact, a representative of a Sydney-based bloodstock agency went to the trouble of placing a phone call to the Rangiora racecourse yesterday in the hope of hearing the direct broadcast of the filly’s first comeback race.
But it proved an unfruitful exercise because the commentary on the running of the Inglewood Stakes was
delayed for some minutes because of a malfunction with the starting gates and the caller was unable to wait.
But Canterbury Belle’s brilliant return to racing — she coasted home in the North Canterbury Racing Club’s feature event by five lengths — will still be available to Australian interests. A request for a video tape of the race was received from an undisclosed Sydney source late last week.
