Game win to Alibhai
NZPA Sydney The strength of jockey, Mick Dittman, was the telling factor in Alibhai’s game win in the $lOO,OOO Rawson Stakes (2000 m at Rosehill on Saturday. Alibhai responded to Dittman’s hard riding to record a close but convincing victory in a dramatic four horse finish. Starting 15-8 favourite, the Tommy Smith-trained four-year-old beat former New Zealand mare, La Grigia (15-1), ridden by Wayne Harris, by three quarters of a length. The Bart Cummings-trained Prolific (8-1) was a head away third after looking the likely winner with 200 metres to travel. Early pacemaker, Rising Prince, showed his usual courage to run fourth, only a neck behind Prolific.
