Doctors’ earnings

Sir,—The March 9 article by Selwyn Carson gives food for thought. Why should doctors be questioned and penalised for every dollar they, earn? No-one queries the millions lost at the Marsden Point refinery. Dentists and chemists are never doubted in their charges and incomes and “no money, no service” is their motto. Many working folk neglect to pay their doctor’s bills and still seek the same doctor’s help, but they frequent the T.A.B. and the local pubs. In sickness and distress many of us have reason to thank our doctors for help and kindness. They give hours of unpaid time and are called out in all weather at all hours. The Minister of Health now wishes to tie them up with paper work and reduce them to civil servants. — Yours, etc.,

KATHY KELLY. March 12, 1985.
