Basketbailers withdraw
Andy Bennett and Kelvin Duff will be missing from the 3ZM Canterbury senior men’s basketball team for the return match against Otago in Dunedin on Saturday evening. Both have withdrawn because of personal reasons. The former New Zealand forward, lan Webb, who was unavailable for last Saturday’s pre-season league game in Christchurch, which Canterbury won, 106-84, will
play this week. The chief coach of the Canterbury team, Mr Darrel Todd, said yesterday that he was happy to play Otago with only eight men. It will be a different story the next week-end when Canterbury will play the Australian league team, the Hobart Tassie Devils. “The full 10-man squad will be available because it will be our first real test of the season,” said Mr Todd.
