From Darwin
Sir,—For years New Zealand has been regarded as a backwater populated by hillbillies. This has been confirmed by the recent ravings of the chief hillbilly, Lange. When will New Zealanders stop being so naive and wake up? They must stop New Zealand becoming the laughing stock of the world by putting pressure on their Left-wing-led Labour Party. I for one will not have any sympathy when the country goes further down the drain when sanctions come into effect.—Yours, etc., GARRY HOLDEN, Ex-New Zealander, Darwin. March 3, 1985.
