Geater claims skeet title
PA Hamilton A Rotorua shooter, Graham Geater, outlasted nine other competitors in a shoot-off to win the New Zealand skeet championship at Eureka, near Hamilton. Geater shot 113 targets without missing to claim the title from a Southlander, Michael Morris, who was the last person to drop by the wayside with a miss. Geater and Morris were joined in the shoot-off by Max Twentyman (Thames), Phil Clark (Hutt Valley), Vic Ball (Waitemata), Dale Clark (Taupo), Robbie Nixon (Auckland Metropolitan), Adrian Cousens (Australia). Richard Newman (Gisborne) and Paul Hunter (Auckland
Metropolitan), who all shot possibles of 50 over the two 25-target rounds. The skeet event attracted near record entries from 312 shooters. Australia scored 120 out of a possible 125 to beat New Zealand (118) in the international teams match. Results:— High over all: G. Geater (Rotorua). A grade: M. Morris (Southland) 1, R.
