Iowa
Sir,—As a citizen of the United States of America, I want to thank Prime Minister David Lange and the people of New Zealand for showing themselves our true friends. It takes a great deal of courage to resist the spread of nuclear weapons by a powerful country, but the leaders of the United States need that kind of challenge. I have been writing letters for years to our legislatures and successive presidential administrations, calling for a reevaluation of priorities in spending. One of these years enough of us will speak out to turn the tide, hopefully soon. Perhaps New Zea-
land has started a contagion of good sense that will spread world wide.—Yours, etc., PATRICIA TEKIPPE, lowa City. March 3, 1985.
