‘Once upon a ...,
The Harlequin Players will present another family theatre restaurant show with their 1985 production of “Once Upon a Magic Lamp.”
An adult Aladdin takes the audience on a magic trip to see three folk tales, “The Golden Goose,” “The Twelve Dancing Princesses,” and “Jack and the Magic Beanstalk.”
The cast of 75 adults and children will perform the show from Saturday for a week in the Centre Gallery at the Arts Centre.
Take your tea to the theatre is the theme for the show with a special performance on Sunday at 6 p.m. for the whole family. The director of the show is Glenys Lloyd-Smith, who wrote the introduction. Petrina Thin choreographed the dancing with Cheryl Hitchlock. Matthew Parkes and Sandi Matthews are the solo dancers. The costumes have been designed by a wardrobe team co-ordinated by Diane van Geylswijk. Ted Maginness designed the set. The cast includes Donald
Bruce as Aladdin, Peter Sadler as the King, Brian Coker as the Gray Man and Peggy Bell as mother in “The Golden Goose,” Ted Maginness as King and Felix Thompson as the shoemaker in “The Twelve Dancing Princesses” and Graeme Randle and Jo Collins as Mr and Mrs Giant, Judith Armstrong as mother, Hilary Hughes as the old lady and Christopher Fogarty as Jack in “Jack ana the Magic Beanstalk.” The season will run from March 16 to 23 at 6 p.m. each evening.
