Vessel ready soon

Pacifica Shipping Company’s plan for a second cargo vessel is going well, according to the company’s chairman, Mr Brooke McKenzie. Two Seamen’s Union delegates and a technical adviser from Pacifica will leave for Europe this week to inspect the company’s newly bought ship described by Mr McKenzie as a

“second generation ro-ro (roll on-roll off) vessel. The ship, tentatively named “The Spirit of Competition,” is expected to arrive in New Zealand by mid-April when it will join the Spirit of Free Enterprise on the WellingtonLyttelton run. She was built in 1978, was 108 m long, and weighed 1600 gross tonnes.
