Nelson retains Cup
PA Nelson Nelson retained the Cyclone Hawke Cup at Trafalgar Park yesterday when it beat Northland by 143 runs on the first innings of their representative cricket match. Batting in its second innings Nelson was all out for 199, giving it an over-all lead of 342 runs.
Scores: Nelson 320 (D. Guthardt 147, J. Smith 63; M. Child 3/ 13, B. Dunning 2/17) and 199 (R. Pierce 56, B. Fowler 61; K. Treiber 3/56) beat Northland 177 (M. Child 55; P. Visser 2/39, S. Gill 2/50, R. Pierce 3/9, G. Walton 2/55) and 107/6 (B. Cooper 38; Visser 3/47, S. Gill 2/41).
