Storming finish by Winning Note

Winning Note came with a storming run over the final 150 m to win the Firestone Cavallino Pace at Addington last evening. This followed on a most impressive victory at Ashburton last week.

After being well back in the field until the home turn he came with a true stayer’s run wide out on the track and won handily by half a length. Lord Louie which drifted badly over the first 100 m, came from last inside the final 800 m to take second by

half a neck from Regal Maina, with a similar distance back to another bold finisher in Spry Joker.

Logan Dryham shaped liked an early improver when he finished fifth. He looked a possible winner 200 m out but came to the end of his run close to the line.

Chataway, which tried to lead for the last 1300 m, was next, just ahead of the favourite, Dear Sir, which failed to work into the open in the straight.
