A. Wright prospects good
PA Wellington Subsidiaries of Arnold and Wright, Ltd, the lighting merchant, were performing better than ever before, the chairman, Mr Leonard Arnold, told the annual meeting in Wellington yesterday. “We have an order book which is at least twice as great as it has ever previously been," he said. This comprised mainly Government business and should provide profitable work at least until the end of 1985. Over-all group prospects were, significantly ahead of last year when profit slipped sharply despite increased turnover. “Our export business is
increasing and in the last month our two subsidiaries exported more than $lOO,OOO worth of orders,” Mr Arnold said.
These were mainly to Australia.
In the parent company, exporting activities continued “energetically,” but at a lower level than the subsidiaries.
“Next year we expect to add Malaysia to the present markets of Australia and Fiji,” he said.
TAG Corporation’s chairman, Mr Peter Wise, was elected to the board of Arnold and Wright. TAG this year purchased a 31.6 per cent interest in Arnold and Wright.
