Soccer ban imposed
NZPA-Reuter Zurich Malcolm Allison, a former manager of the English soccer club, Middlesbrough, has been barred from the sport worldwide until he pays a £250 (SNZ66S) fine, the International Football Federation has said.
An official of the governing body of world football, said: “The ban was imposed because Malcolm Allison failed to settle a fine fixed by the English Football Association. He is therefore suspended from all activities till the fine is paid.” The 56-year-old Allison, who has also managed Crystal Palace, Manchester City and worked briefly as a coach on the Tampa Bay Rowdies in the American Soccer League, wants to delay payment until he receives a cash settlement from Middlesbrough.
He was dismissed from Middlesbrough in March and fined in April after remarks made to a referee in a game in February between Middlesbrough and Manchester City.
