National network for jobless
PA Wellington A national network able to speak to the Government on behalf of the grassroots unemployed will be set up as a result of a seminar on employment held in Wellington at the week-end.
One of the seminar organisers, Mr Peter McKinley, said a delegation of about 15 people from throughout New Zealand met the Minister of Employment, Mr Burke, yesterday to talk about recommendations from the seminar. He said that there was a “great deal of confidence” at the seminar that the new Government would be prepared to listen and that the failure of previous policy on unemployment had been the direct lack of consultation.
