Affiliation to F.O.L. questioned

PA Wellington Three branches of the Printers’ Union have questioned their affiliation to the Federation of Labour. The Auckland, Wellington, and Nelson branches have called for a ballot of affiliation after the recent secession of the Electrical Workers’ Union from the F.O.L. . The union has held about half of its round of annual meetings of branches throughout New Zealand. All motions from these branches must be considered by the union’s national council meeting to be held in early October. If the council decided to call a ballot, F.O.L. representatives would be called to address the membership in accordance with the F.O.L. constitution, said the national secretary of the union, Mr Colin Chiles. That would happen before the ballot was held.
