Individual freedom

Sir,—Paul Maling should know that only a small part of the ancient Greek ethos embraced the hedonism of sexual perversion. He has previously quoted Plato, picking out the microbits which suit his upright stance. The rest of us are upside-down and out of step. On the other hand, the Judaeo-Muslim religion condones much brutality. I saw humanity, intelligence, beauty and grace in gatherings of Arab men, but these did not justify their treatment of women and boys as chattels. I am concerned that corrupt propaganda, disguised as human rights, made so-called “victimless crimes” an election issue. The hedonism — pleasure principle — behind the crimes of sodomy and white slavery does not alter the fact that they are far from being victimless. Gay reformers seek to legalise homosexual, advances towards reluctant young people in public as the individual right to offer an alternative life style. — Yours, etc., VARIAN J. WILSON.
