Joint labour meeting

PA Wellington The Joint Council of Labour met in Wellington today for the first time since the General Election. The Prime Minister-elect, Mr Lange, declined to comment after the meeting in his office. The president of the Federation of Labour, Mr W. J. Knox, gave a guarded statement on what was discussed. He said the council discussed the election and

whether the joint meetings would continue. He said the meeting decided they should continue and Mr Lange agreed. Meetings are usually held at the F.O.L. office. The joint council consists of members of the F.O.L. executive, the Labour Party executive, Mr Lange, and his deputy, Mr Palmer. Mr Knox and the Labour Party president, Mr J. P. Anderton, alternate as chairman.
