Bomb thrown at station
PA Wellington Two petrol bombs were hurled at a side door of the Foxton police station on Wednesday evening. One of the flaming petrolfilled bottles exploded, charring the door and causing smoke damage to the station foyer before the fire was extinguished by Sergeant David Direen. The incident, at 11.45 p.m., was believed to have been connected with a confrontation earlier in the evening between the police and a group of youths outside Foxton’s Manawatu Hotel, when several police vehicles had their tyres spiked.
